MERCURY ENTERED SCORPIO overnight, so today we have the first day of that combination. The first degree of Scorpio (01 Scorpio) is the Sabian symbol "a sight-seeing bus filled with tourists." So every time a planet enters Scorpio, it goes into new "territory" or goes on "an adventure." It goes somewhere different. Mercury "rules" our thought processes/thinking and is called The Messenger and The Traveler, so when Mercury enters Scorpio and begins to discharge the energy of the first degree of Scorpio, our minds can go to a very different place. Our mindset changes. Today you may find that the way you thought or felt about something undergoes a change.
A side note about Mercury in Scorpio is the heightened potential to say things that hurt very deeply. We are in the last day of the Disseminating Moon phase, the phase when we naturally communicate, share, or express more with others, so we want to be cautious, not caustic with our words. This may be more of a challenge after the Moon moves into Leo today, as Leo can get fiery and worked up. Mercury will transit (go through) Scorpio until November 20, 2015, so this in effect until that time.
VENUS AND MARS WILL CONJUNCT or "come together" at the same location in the sky at 7:39 pm ET/00:39 am UT. This is the primary energetic in effect today and it is a biggie. It's big because Venus is meeting up with Mars after traveling (retrograde) backward this past summer. It's an interesting dynamic today as the conjunction happens at 24 Virgo 01. So even though Venus trails Mars all day today at the degree of "Mary and her white lamb", Venus doesn't catch up to Mars until Mars just barely crosses into the degree of "a flag at half mast in front of a public building."
Venus and Mars making conjunction at "a flag at half mast in front of a public building" deals mostly with honoring or recognizing accomplishments and losses, particularly in romantic relationships since its Venus and Mars. Grief and loss of any type can easily resurface with this energetic.
At a deeper level, this energy shows us what is missing - not just what is not being seen, but what is missing or what we miss. Venus is re-vitalized from its "travel backwards" where it helped us to see or learn what we truly value. The conjunction of Venus and Mars today will bring insight into the "what is missing/missed" dynamic.
THE SUN is located at the degree of "a drowning man being rescued." In the natural cycle of the Sun, Moon, and Earth, this lunar month (beginning October 12) has been like a month-long Full Moon. Full Moons bring full impact, full light, and full-on craziness. Events that have happened thus far this month may have stretched the ability to cope. The Sun literally provides the energy of rescue and resuscitation today. Space opens and we can breathe.
THE EARTH blesses us at the degree of "a woman sprinkling flowers." Nature is the outer expression of the inner beauty of Gaia Sophia, the aeon of Wisdom. This symbol reminds us to nurture and nourish ourselves - to take care of ourselves. Take the time that is needed for this today. A natural-alignment of sorts is in effect, so we want to maximize that energy.
All of this serves to transform or transition us from one way or thing or thought or feeling or belief to another form. This can be scary. But change is the nature of the universe. That means change is natural to us. We may not like it, but it is natural for us. We believe change is bad. Change will bring pain. What is not often seen is that change often alleviates pain.
