Mercury Retrograde
is an astrological phenomenon that has become notorious for missed connections, miscommunications, malfunctioning electronics, travel snafus, fender benders, etc. Among these seeming drawbacks and headache-inducing circumstances, however, Mercury Retrograde periods are also a time when greater awareness and mindfulness are employed, with rich potentials for inner reflection, slowing down, and resting. The themes that are encouraged now can be anything beginning with 're,' during this RE-trograde period: Re-organize, reflect, relax, re-communicate, re-prioritize, rewind, etc. It is a time when it is highly beneficial to plan on turning inward to pause and take stock of all the tremendous growth and evolution that has been happening within and all around each of us. It is generally not a good time to start a brand new project, make impulsive purchases, or sign a new contract. The astrological thinking is that decisions made at this time will dramatically alter once Mercury turns direct and especially after escaping its shadow.

Mercury stations retrograde on December 2nd at 11:34pm (pacific time) at 28º of Sagittarius, conjoined with conservative Saturn, suggesting the “slowdown effect” of this retrograde is even more palpable and dramatic, even before the moment of exact. The Great American Solar Eclipse last summer, on August 21st, was at 28º of Leo, which therefore remains a sensitive zodiacal degree. Any major configurations, such as Mercury stationing in trine with this degree, will activate the themes and lessons we each are working with from that time – you may wish to think back now on what happened for you during and since August 21st. Mercury is in a weakened state in the sign of Sagittarius, and is also “out of bounds” when it stations, suggesting that this retrograde period is more unpredictable than others. This could be reflected in our personal experiences in the form of reckless thinking, outdated mental patterns running amok, tendencies to “act out,” or higher chances for mishaps in commuting or traveling. It may be wise to employ an extra dose of mindfulness and care when communicating and getting from here to there.

Nebulous Neptune also has a strong influence in the configurations, since Mercury makes a nearly exact quintile aspect to Neptune at the time of its station, as well as there being a trine to Neptune from Jupiter in Scorpio. This indicates potential trials regarding our ability to be with uncertainty, and a magnification of how well (or not) we’ve been adapting to the rapidly changing times in which we live. Neptune can create a sort of “fog” where thinking becomes unclear or confusion arises, and especially in this whopper of a combination with stationing Mercury and Saturn. This is not a good time to make big, life-changing decisions, and if confusion does arise the invitation is to be accepting of and present with yourself and your situation just as it is. Neptune also brings in the spiritual dimension, asking us to apply loving awareness to the places inside of ourselves that needs it most, and to see the miraculous and divine in everything—even the swirl of discomfort or confusion.

We have a very interesting dynamic emerging between Mercury and Saturn as the retrograde progresses. Saturn is traveling through the final degrees of Sagittarius, after having spent the last three or so years there, signaling a “wrapping up” of the themes brought about by Saturn in Sagittarius. Some of these themes include bringing more focus to learning, conducting ourselves more responsibly in terms of our beliefs and spirituality/religion, feeling stifled or less able to expand as freely, or learning how to explore within appropriate boundaries. Saturn will then move into the sign of his own of rulership, Capricorn, on December 19th, where the environment is much more conducive for his serious and productive nature. Mercury is not at his best in Sagittarius, and since it begins with Saturn and then travels backwards from 28º all the way to 13º Sagittarius, this invites us to look back at the more challenging Saturn in Sagittarius themes that have been cropping up in our life since late 2014.

What have you learned about your relationship to spirituality, beliefs, religion, or dogma? What lesson have you received about the themes of responsibility versus free-wheeling? Commitment versus keeping your options open? Following your head versus following your heart? Have you found ways to synthesize seeming opposites into useful actions and ways of being in your life? You may wish to look at your own chart and examine where Sagittarius falls in your natal chart, and what planetary placements you have there. (If you like, you can see your birth chart with a free membership here.) This retrograde is an opportunity to pause and take inventory and harvest the lessons that really resonate and work for you, and also to allow that which is not helpful to gently be released and fall away.

Important dates:

December 2nd, 11:34pm PST: Mercury Stations Retrograde at 28º Sagittarius

December 3rd, Full Moon in Gemini: The Moon is opposite the Sun in Sagittarius, and in almost exact aspect to Neptune and Jupiter, bringing learning opportunities around to the themes of logic versus faith, knowing versus uncertainty, the mind versus the heart.

December 6, Mercury conjunct Saturn is exact: Stop. Look. Listen. Remember you can’t force the river…

December 10, Mercury trine Uranus in Aries: Expect the unexpected, or lessons coming in unusual ways..

December 12, Mercury conjunct the Sun: This is an important day in the retrograde journey. Look for inner revelations, and surprising realizations.

December 15, Mercury conjunct Venus: The mind seeks comfort in knowledge. The heart seeks comfort in connection.

December 19, Saturn enters Capricorn: A new ~3 year phases emerges, where Saturn is at home. Themes include healthy boundaries, personal responsibility, ambition, and manifesting ideas into reality.

December 22, 5:51pm PST: Mercury Stations direct at 13º Sagittarius and thus we are at one of the peak moments of the retrograde cycle. Things will still take some time to really sort themselves out.

January 10, 2018: Mercury escapes its retrograde shadow, signaling the completion of the Mercury Retrograde cycle.

December's full Moon falls on December 3 in the US, and, December 4 in Australia. This is a rather Neptunian chart as the full Moon is in an exact t-square with Neptune. Thus, this full Moon can awaken a lot of spirituality in us, a hankering to make more art, and, a heightened sensitivity to social pressures, all the way to feeling ripped-off and deluded. I think we're going to be seeing all of these things highlighted in coming weeks. In amongst the stories of this full Moon we have the desire to be heard, to have our thoughts and feelings voiced, to be taken seriously, along with the need to not feel judged or examined or found to be less than.

The following shows how tight this t-square is...

  • The Moon on Gemini 12: A SLAVE GIRL DEMANDS HER RIGHTS OF HER MISTRESS
  • The Sun on Sagittarius 12: A FLAG THAT TURNS INTO AN EAGLE; THE EAGLE INTO A CHANTICLEER SALUTING THE DAWN
  • Neptune on Pisces 12: AN EXAMINATION OF INITIATES IN THE SANCTUARY OF AN OCCULT BROTHERHOOD

As always with these kinds of aspects, it is interesting to look at the empty leg of the t-square
, the degree forming a grand-cross to these planets, in other words. It's interesting in light of many things going on around the feminine lately. It's Virgo 12: A BRIDE WITH HER VEIL SNATCHED AWAY. This can imply many things, in amongst them having to 'remove the veil', revealing one's self, being true to your self, stripping away falsehoods and misconceptions, etc. It also can speak of removing that veil so you can see into, participate in and effect healings on many levels, especially on a spiritual level.

We may feel as if we're being 'examined', perhaps falling short, not living up to expectations, wondering when we'll be able to let go of the stories around our rights, beliefs, aspirations, etc, that are hindering us from getting what we want. Sometimes, with this assembling of the 12th degree of mutables, we find ourselves finding our voice, finding the impetus and breaking through the barriers, especially those 'glass ceilings' (in their various forms) that have been around far too long. BTW, Virgo 12 is the Sun degree of Elsie Wheeler, the fabulous spiritualist medium who gave birth to the Sabian Symbols.

In amongst it all, we need to be vigilant around giving rise to issues to do with feelings of self-sacrifice, emptiness, guilt, or any number of other emotions that can lead to self-delusion. Naturally, this is not inevitable, it depends on what is going on for you and around you. As always, we could see this writ more largely in the media; this configuration, especially with the planets involved, can bring up more allegations of sexual assault, bullying, etc, and, there will be judgments made left, right and center.

This configuration can also see us having a spiritual awakening.  Interesting, insightful and creative realizations can come through, especially if we honour our sensibilities and give ourselves some time out.

This t-square can bring up issues of seeing others being examined for their motives or acts, and, we might find ourselves asking questions of others. Trials by media may be heightened; certainly, in Australia, we're seeing celebrities and politicians being called out for the socially unacceptable. It's a very interesting time where the feminine is saying 'enough is enough', and, there will no doubt be more falls from grace with Neptune in such a tight configuration with the full Moon. There can also be a feeling of sacrifice, loss, disillusionment or betrayal in amongst the emotions we'll see flying around.

Further, with Mercury being stationary and turning retrograde conjunct Saturn on the Galactic Center, we may have the feeling of being able to (or, having to) get it together, to streamline our lives, to live up to our own expectations, to find our successes and let go of our failures, all of which can feel rather acute at the moment. A type of malaise can come about from this conjunction, almost as if we're standing still and waiting for the next shoe to drop. Mercury, after Saturn has moved away from the GC, will continue to dance on this very powerful point in it's direct motion in the second week of January.

December Gemini full Moon 2017

Whether it's now, at New Year's, or, in the second week of January, this is a great time to be making decisions and affirmations. The good news in amongst the  Mercury/Saturn conjunction being on the Galactic Center is the opportunity to really tune into the Law Of Attraction; to take charge of our lives, to get a clear sense of where to from here. Saturn, after all, can bring rewards for hard work, but, of course, it can bring about a sense of failure or disappointment if we're not aligning with where we want to be in life.

With Mercury sitting stationary retrograde on the last degree of Sagittarius - Sagittarius 30: THE POPE BLESSING THE FAITHFUL, we might need to spend more time with loved ones, those who want more of our time and attention. Mercury here, though, can suggest the idea of blessing yourself. What about a bit more self-care in amongst all that needs to be done.

It's interesting to note that Jupiter, in Scorpio, is on the 'Cinderella degree'; THE EMBASSY BALL. Which side of the Cinderella story do you feel like you're on? Is it an issue for you, or, do you know others who are feeling it? This can have us cleaning out the oven while others traipse off to the 'ball'; the event, the relationship, the wearing of fine clothes and having the right handbag. Jupiter on this degree can be the best thing, bringing all kinds of rewards and lovely things, OR, it can have us feeling where the invitations are, where the fun is being had.

Having said the above, Jupiter and Neptune are in a delightful trine with each other, which can be very inspiring, insightful, intuitive and dream making and realizing. It's a lovely trine and full of so much spiritual and creative potential, and, it can show us where we need to make changes in order to fulfill our desires. Jupiter is in a quincunx (150 degrees) aspect with the Moon, and, in a semi-sextile aspect with the Sun. This can bring up issues that we might have found somewhat difficult to grasp before now. I call these aspects 'the itch that can be difficult to scratch', however, I think that the trine to Neptune will bring sometimes long-awaited messages and answers our way.

The Mars/Uranus opposition that is happening most strongly in the few days before the full Moon may have us wanting to run off, to make big changes, we might feel a bit grumpy if we're not letting off steam, especially if we've been brewing about relationship issues, or, exchanges with others that have been less than satisfactory. With this Mars/Uranus opposition, some decisions may be made, but, it might be a good idea to let things run for a while before actually taking action. That is unless things are unbearable. In that case, going for it, is key, as long as you have thought through things long enough.

Mars, in Libra, quickly moves on to a sextile to Mercury and Saturn in Sagittarius, so, we can find added impetus to work things out and make moves in the right direction.

Lilith is on a degree that I always take note of - Capricorn 3: THE HUMAN SOUL, IN IT'S EAGERNESS FOR NEW EXPERIENCES, SEEKS EMBODIMENT. This is a fabulous degree that speaks of the desire to 'give birth to your true self', to be creative, to be really 'embodied'. It's interesting to note that this is the degree of the Sun most years right on Christmas when the Christian calendar is about celebrating the birth of Christ ('seeks embodiment').

Chiron, The Wounded Healer and The Stories We Tell Ourselves, is stationing on Pisces 25: THE PURGING OF THE PRIESTHOOD. So much has already been revealed with those who have occupied positions of power falling from grace, but, there is, no doubt, more to come. A lot of the 'Me Too' movement has come, I believe, out of Pluto transiting mid-Capricorn, especially over 16 and 17, BOYS AND GIRLS IN GYMNASIUM SUITS and A YOUNG WOMAN SURREPTITIOUSLY BATHING IN THE NUDE (that last degree can often speak of revealing one's self, opening up and not hiding away any longer).

There's more that can be said about this full Moon, but, it is covered in the list of Sabian Symbols for the planets below.

The full Moon each month marks a time of heightened energies and events. It often marks the culmination of the energies released at the new Moon. Emotions can be supercharged as the Sun and Moon are on opposite sides of the zodiac and illumination is increased - it's like we can see in the dark - and we can be hyper-aware as well as being hyper-awake. The effects of a full Moon can be major or minor, depending on how they interact with your own chart.

Sometimes, realisations or events that are unleashed, or unlocked, can stretch their meaning months into the future. A lot can be learned at the time of the full Moon and whether it's lunacy or illumination, or a combination of both, there's magic unleashed with every full Moon.

The full Moon is on Gemini 12: .....

Lisa Renee: Mastering Relationships Practice | Energetic Synthesis

Mastering Relationships Practice – Lisa Renee

These times are very explosive with sudden changes that force rapid transformation unexpectedly, and this can be very painful for many people that are undergoing tremendous amounts of pressure and stress in their lives. Very few people on the earth have the proper context to apply the knowledge of planetary ascension and understand how this massive event is directly impacting their lives thereby dismantling ego and obsolete structures. Thus, when we are feeling more stressed we may react too quickly and say things coming from impulses that we may regret later. Therefore, let us remember to take extra care to be kind and to proceed slowly with conscious thought and reflection within our interactions with others, and attempt to hold all of our communications with special care, to intend to be clear, kind and compassionate even in the most stressful and confusing of situations. May we find the inner stillness and peace that enables us to feel unconditional love in order to support each of us to reconnect with the deepest part of our own inner light and heart, in so that we begin to  live as free, authentic and creative source beings once again. For I Am God. I Am Sovereign and I Am Free!

This is true for every person at all times and this law is upheld for all without exception. All people deserve to know the inner truth of their own heart and soul, and to be able to live on the earth free of fear and free of suffering. During these intense times of shifting, let’s try to not create any more pain or dramas within the community or between ourselves. This is what it means to be gentle with our hearts and to be gentle with each other. In light of these challenging circumstances, we all can benefit from improving our compassionate communication skills, improving our relating skills personally, and interpersonally. As we shift from individuated personality consciousness to merge towards unity in diversity within a group consciousness setting, we will find many communication challenges in the group dynamics that we may find ourselves. Whether its family groups, professional groups, social groups, spiritual groups, community groups, online groups, we will need to find better ways to master communications within any of these relationships. As a result of the need to find ways to open mutual dialogues within diverse and polarizing view points, this is a skill set that will go a long way to serve not only our personal mission, but support every aspect of our lives. We all can benefit from improving our communication skills, to commit to be relationally safe people, kind people, and compassionate people that refuse to direct more of the negative energy that is being transmitted and stirred up by the Controllers and the NAA at this time to feed division and invoke fear.

With that in mind we set forth a few guidelines to remember when communicating with others or relating with others, in our community or in any area of your life. Choosing Service to Others based communication guidelines through the desire to gain mastery in all relationships will create much greater ease in all of the interpersonal relationships that you have. So let’s review some of these basic guidelines of mastering relationships and working with these guidelines every day, so that we can improve our self mastery and improve our compassionate communication skills.

#1: Self-Responsibility. Being able to own your own emotional conflicts without blame or projection upon another person by making it their fault. Do not assume that you know anything about that person that can be judged for what you cannot see or really know about them, as you have not walked in their shoes. When feeling upset towards somebody else, restore balance to your heart and aura by lovingly holding boundaries without violating others boundaries, by expecting them to resolve your conflict. Be willing and open to learn what the real issue is that has created the conflict. As most of the time, we’re upset about something deep down from our own inner fears and it’s not what it appears to be. By going deeper and reflecting on forgiveness of ourselves and forgiveness of others, while allowing the time and space needed to heal, helps to neutralize the conflict in most cases.

#2: Conservation. Being able to discern the right use of action harnesses precious time and life force so that we can all be more effective and impactful in our lives. Cultivate the wisdom of knowing when to engage and when not to engage with others in conflicting circumstances or dramas. No person needs to justify their existence or choices to another person or really needs to care what other people think of them. Attempt to stay clear of emotional drama or emotional tantrums by not engaging with them. It means that you do not feed the drama to escalate into chaos or further disruption. Dark energies and dark forces use emotional drama to instigate schisms and chaos between yourself and others. Making all of us especially in this spiritual family less effective by scattering our energies and generating more confusion. When we learn to conserve our energy, it means we have a stronger focus and one becomes more effective and productive in their lives. When we learn conservation skills, we actually gain more resources and a deeper connection with our spiritual source. If we waste time and we waste energy, we reach an energy threshold that cannot be increased or circulated. This potentially drains us and therefore dissipates the positive influence and positive frequencies we intended to circulate back into the environment. When we are scattered with our personal energies, this makes us less effective and impactful in the world.

#3: Learning how to Respond. In the moment, learn how to choose your response rather than react to life events, people and challenging circumstances. Reaction and impulses are subconscious programming and it mostly operates from a preconceived idea of fear or mind control. Observe the reactions inside of your body, in regard to yourself and others, and ask your body to show you the story of where the impulses are coming from. The memory that is behind the subconscious program of that reaction. As one learns to enquire about the reactions that you automatically generate, much is learned about our body consciousness and this can effectively be healed and cleared from continuing the reaction or trigger. Emotional catharsis techniques and much of the ES Core Triad practices include several steps to help release the story, clearing the memory from the body so it can return to a new pattern which is free of automatic and reactive pain. Choosing forgiveness, choosing kindness, choosing compassion and working on choosing self-love and self-acceptance is all a decision one has the power to make in every moment. By choosing your responses, you are gaining control over your self.

#4: Reverence. All beings have the right to exist and to co-exist. By learning there are mutual benefits present between all relationships and by respecting each person’s right to exist is a demonstration of reverence for life. Reverence for life force and for God force in all of its aspects and in all of its permutations. We choose to avoid behaviors of criticism or presumption, or being disrespectful with harmful accusations in order to gain control or to manipulate others, such as by giving unsolicited advice or placing demands. Learn to live and let live.

#5: Humility. By knowing our place in the universe and the role we play, one acts in humility, knowing that all is a part of the God source. All is equal in the love of God and no being, no person is judged as better or worse, higher or valued more than any other. By acting from humility and from devoting yourself to spiritual service when you are called upon to do something, this is an action of stewardship in humility that you accept the job given. There is no self-entitlement given in spiritual service. Entitlement is a distortion of spiritual ambition and negative ego that feels superior to others. And if self-entitlement is left unchecked in leadership, it will result in a correction or what is known as a root downfall.

#6: Discernment. Without using ego judgment test the personal resonance of people, events and circumstances that you choose to engage with or exchange with, determining which is either aligned to your person or not aligned to your person, in that moment. There is no right or wrong answer, only personal resonance and choice. That answer may change continually in different timelines depending on when you ask the question and what powers of discernment are cultivated. Learning personal discernment builds our necessary boundaries to discover what is productive and supportive for fulfilling our spiritual path or not. Discernment allows for continual productive growth and for the effective use of our personal energies and focused attention. By upholding our personal boundaries and applying discernment towards all things that we focus our energy and our attention upon, we are more effectively managing our consciousness and life force.

#7 Direct Knowing. By feeling in the moment what the energy is communicating, or what the environment is communicating to you, suspend linear thought and surrender mental chatter to feeling of what you know in that present moment of time. This is direct knowing, breathing in the moment, feeling the energy signature in the environment will open our higher senses to allow the energy to give our body impressions and information without words. When being present, higher knowing becomes connected with you at all times. What you know now in this moment is all you will ever need to move forward. Breathe and take in what is in front of you now as direct knowing. Every moment in the feeling of the direct knowing will be available to you in the present. Generally, we know much more in the feeling of the moment, than we mentally acknowledge ourselves for. Pay attention to what is in front of you. What does now feel like. Let the energy and the feeling response give information and insight to your heart and intuitive feelings.

#8 Surrender. By being present in the moment, and surrendering to the now, judgments and future expectations of others are completely dissolved. Every connection or personal contact holds an opportunity for growth and learning. Attempt to neutralize polarity thinking and division by asking for the deeper meaning, the needed change or lesson of growth that is inherent in a circumstance, especially one that appears or feels painful to you. Surrendering to the now moment and feeling the feelings, while holding unconditional love allows greater acceptance to neutralize painful or confusing situations. If we constrict in a defensive posture or hold on to defend the situation, it amplifies the negativity of that situation and makes that situation vulnerable to interference and superimposed wills. Learn to let go, and let God.

#9 Be True to You. Honor your entire being and honor your life force, inquire and put forth the effort to know the contents of your heart and higher purpose for spiritual growth And only really give to others what feels joyful and aligned for your person. Do you not bargain yourself away or sacrifice your truth however, do not avoid tasks that build discipline of the personal character. Ask your multi-dimensional selves what they need to feel balanced and peaceful as you pay attention to your energetic and physical well-being. Generating love and kindness to ourselves as a loving but firm self-parent is a part of spiritual maturity. It is important to give generously to the inner child with acknowledgement and loving appreciation of witnessing the inner childs experiences.

The Relationship Mastery Guidelines are nine steps of practicing improved communication skills with a positive Service to Others orientation. It allows you to create a mutually energetic benefit from experiencing more spiritual connection, increased love and appreciation, and returning back more positive interactions from others to you. Our practice comes without attachment and without expectation placed upon others. This happens naturally when we follow some basic guidelines in certain areas where we have asked for spiritual growth beyond anything else to master old patterns that we are attempting to transcend during the ascension cycle. We may have periods of growth where we are undergoing a deep testing to our personal truth and personal beliefs, watching our 3D world crumble. We are undergoing a time where we will endure a life review, which is definitely testing our personal truth and personal beliefs against the authentic nature of our spiritual being.

Eventually our goal is to be able to be in this world, yet not of it. And be able to generate more fulfilling, loving and appreciative bonds that are shared with other people, whether in groups, our community or within our own personal intimate relationships.
