Your guide to planetary energies forNovember 27 toDecember 3, 2017By Pam Younghans
Highlighted Aspects this Week
MON: Venus quincunx Uranus, Mars opposite Eris, Mercury conjunct Saturn
THU: Mars quincunx Chiron
FRI: Venus enters Sagittarius, Mars opposite Uranus, Sun sesquiquadrate Uranus
SAT: Sun semisquare Mars, Jupiter trine Neptune, Mercury goes retrograde 11:34pm PST (7:34am GMT on Sunday)
SUN: Sun square Neptune, Full Moon 7:46am PST (3:46pm GMT), Venus semisquare Pluto, Mars sesquiquadrate Neptune
DEPENDING on which direction we choose to look this week, we can feel profound inspiration and hope or great frustration and disillusionment. Or perhaps, if we start the week with a less-than-optimistic attitude, we can emerge on the other side with a shift in consciousness, one that accepts current reality while opening to the positive potentials of what may be.
Mars is a participant in most of the irritations that arise this week, starting on Monday when the Red Planet opposes Eris. With this aspect, a dynamic tug-of-war is set up between masculine and feminine principles, as well as between those who cry for war and those who pray for peace.
ADDING to the serious tone as we begin the week, Mercury aligns with Saturn in Sagittarius late Monday night. We can use this aspect to apply discipline to mental endeavors, but we must guard against a pessimistic perspective that views all effort as futile.
Since both Saturn and Mercury are at the same degree as the Galactic Center, this alignment indicates an opportunity for a major reset. This is a time when we can take significant steps in releasing old patterns that have blocked our progress. As we do, we establish a much stronger and clearer conduit through which to receive "cosmic downloads."
We also need to note that because Mercury goes retrograde next Saturday, it will conjoin Saturn three times over the next few weeks. The alignment will be in Sagittarius on November 27 and December 6, and in Capricorn on January 12.
In essence, Mercury and Saturn are aligned with each other and with the Galactic Center for more than a week, from November 27 to December 6. This is powerful! Are we to the point where we're ready to receive the higher information emitted by the GC? Or do we still need to go through another phase of the purging process?
Since Monday's aspect is just the first of the three, we will want to take special notice of events that occur early this week. If issues feel unresolved, we can watch for further developments in those areas around the remaining two dates of the Mercury-Saturn alignment.
THE MARS EFFECT continues on Thursday with a Mars-Chiron aspect that requires an attitude adjustment. We need to be wary of being able to stay in balance (Mars in Libra) only when life is in harmony and all evidence points to a positive outcomes. It's easy to be courageous when nothing is triggering fear.
The definition of faith is "believing in something in which there is no proof" -- and with Chiron in Pisces, having faith is both the mechanism and the result of our healing at this time. That faith may be tested again on Friday when both Mars and the Sun are in hard aspect to revolutionary Uranus.
WE ARE ALWAYS CAUTIONED to "expect the unexpected" when Uranus is involved in an aspect, so our best preparation for Friday's planetary events is to be flexible in our plans, to allow new energy to flow into our lives and shift our course as needed, and to do our best to see all that happens as an opportunity.
In her Energy Anatomy workshop, Carolyn Myss suggests that we consider this affirmation when unexpected changes occur: "Everything that happens to me is potentially the best thing that's ever happened to me."
We all have the experience of looking back at a loss or disappointment, and realizing that what appeared to be detrimental at the time actually ended up changing our lives for the better. It is far more difficult to look at present-day problems with that same level of insight -- but if we at least attempt to gain the higher-perspective mountaintop, we will be not only helping ourselves manage current challenges, but also growing in our ability to access the wisdom and faith of our own divine nature.
THE GOOD NEWS about that Uranian influence on Friday is that it opens us up to some very positive and profound energies over the weekend. Sometimes we need a flash of lightning to compel us to look up into the sky and see the rainbow.
Jupiter and Neptune are in harmonious aspect on Saturday, increasing our spiritual, imaginative, and compassionate tendencies. This is an excellent influence for utilizing healing modalities that address both emotional and spiritual issues, being in a creative flow, expanding dream work or a meditation practice, and making a deep commitment to something we believe in, especially if it enables us to be of service to the higher good.
THE "MORE GOOD NEWS" is that this is just the first of three such aspects, with the other two occurring on May 25 and August 15, 2018. In other words, we are entering a time that supports great spiritual growth, the development of new methods of emotional and spiritual healing, increased intuitive abilities and psychic sensitivity, and a more generous and compassionate approach to those we might call "other."
Jupiter and Neptune can sometimes result in an overly idealistic perspective, but I'm not too worried about that manifestation with Jupiter in truth-seeking Scorpio. And even if we do put on rose-colored glasses from time to time, my sense is that we all can use a new infusion of higher vision at this point.
SUNDAY'S FULL MOON is another powerful influence on the astrological agenda this week. It occurs at 7:46 a.m. PST (3:46 p.m. GMT) when the Moon is at 11°40″ Gemini and the Sun is at the same degree of Sagittarius.
At the time of the lunation, Neptune and Jupiter are at 11 degrees of Pisces and Scorpio, respectively. In other words, the Full Moon is in strong aspect to both planets, activating the effects of the Jupiter-Neptune trine but challenging us as well. We may deal with confusion and disillusionment as the planets conspire to help us rise above old mindsets (Moon in Gemini) and beliefs (Sun in Sagittarius).
This Full Moon is also a SuperMoon, which means it occurs when the Moon is at perigee, the point in its orbit when it is closest to the Earth. Given that a Full Moon is already associated with heightened emotions, we can expect that a perigee Full Moon will increase our sensitivity on many levels.
MERCURY, as planetary "ruler" of Gemini, is therefore the ruler of this Full Moon. The fact that Mercury goes retrograde just eight hours before the lunation can significantly heighten the level of disorientation that may occur. The "Alice in Wonderland" effect can be very strong, when everything seems to be upside down and backwards. But as our minds take a detour from their usual rational route, we are more open to higher-level insights and signs and synchronicities.
Mercury will be retrograde until December 22. This gives us about three weeks to review the beliefs and ideologies that we have lived by up to this point, allowing them to be revised by the higher insights and awareness that are now coming through.
It will be interesting to see what changes occur between now and that third Mercury-Saturn alignment on January 12! Since that last conjunction is in progress-driven Capricorn, we will want to spend some time over the next three weeks giving thought to what our longer-term ambitions are, and how to incorporate our life's vision more fully into those concrete goals.
IF YOUR BIRTHDAY IS THIS WEEK: Your self-concept has been undergoing significant changes on subtle levels. You may have felt rudderless, without a clear idea of where to go, in spite of feeling quite passionate about what you believe in. This time of drifting is now coming to a close for most people who were born this week, and a new sense of optimism and direction is opening. The coming year is one of finding a new intention for your life, one that incorporates your spiritual values but also addresses concerns that affect you on deep emotional levels.
In peace,
Pam
