Laura Bruno: Help for Empaths: Navigating the Should’s

Laura Bruno: Help for Empaths: Navigating the Should’s

This topic arises so often in sessions that I feel led to address it here, too. Many times, life tugs in different directions. Empaths, especially, sense how our own decisions affect the people we know and love. To some extent, this is a good thing. A person who lacks any empathy is also known as a narcissist or sociopath, so yes, we do need awareness of how our behavior and attitudes affect other people.

However

Empaths feel the emotions, attitudes, energy and thoughts of other people to a sometimes debilitating degree. Even the thought of hurting someone else hurts us. Without protection, we feel the disappointment, judgment, illness or whatever other pain of someone else within ourselves. When lived unconsciously, empathic “gifts” feel awful. Mysterious body aches, overwhelming sadness, anxiety, general confusion or lack of desire: I always advise empaths to ask, “Is this mine?” Because many times, it’s not. Good energy hygiene aides discernment.

I call this the Energy Brush Off, but it’s also a Japanese technique called Kenyoku or “dry bathing.” Bring your right hand to your left shoulder and then sweep down your arm, past your fingertips. Repeat on the other side, left hand to right shoulder, sweep down past your fingertips. Alternate sides three times, then flick your fingers like you washed your hands and can’t find a towel.

Repeat morning and night, like you brush your teeth. You can also do the Energy Brush Off anytime you felt good until you interacted with someone or something then suddenly felt tired, angry, sad, oppressed or “not as good as you did before.” Sudden shifts in health, emotions or energy levels often indicate some kind of empathic exchange. Brush that energy off before it settles in and becomes “yours.” It won’t really be all yours, but it becomes much more difficult to sense your own emotions, desires, attitudes, hopes and dreams when you embody those of everyone around you.

Good energy hygiene offers a regular reset to your own energy field. The more often you return to yourself, the more you recognize your own energy, including your own longings and desires.

The more often you return to yourself, the more obvious it becomes which people and situations dampen or drain your energy. Awareness of these dynamics doesn’t always mean you need to cut all contact. Some situations might require that step, but in most cases, a little strategy goes a long way. If you know someone’s patterns and how they usually affect you, then you can protect yourself in appropriate ways. Since Empaths lack the separation/boundaries that most people have, good strategies involve not only releasing picked up energy, but also creating a healthy buffer zone.

Some of my favorite empath tricks include:

  1. The Energy Brush Off shared above
  2. Black tourmaline and/or onyx for energetic shielding
  3. The Algiz Rune (creates a “moat” effect around your castle/energy field)
  4. Using a mantra like “I deserve good things”or “You do you, I’ll do me”
  5. Educating yourself about patterns in narcissism, BPD and sociopathy
  6. Educating yourself about codependency and/or Adult Children of Alcoholics
  7. Reciting the Serenity Prayer
  8. Walnut Bach Flower Remedy (to live your life path in the midst of others)
  9. Crabapple Bach Flower Remedy (if being around others shames you)
  10. Pine Bach Flower Remedy (in situations requiring more forgiveness than you feel)
  11. Cultivating relationships that support and encourage your own sovereignty

Number 11 on that list happens more naturally and easily the more you commit to “navigating the should’s.” Yes, life, society, work and family place obligations on us, but not all obligations are healthy or appropriate. Sometimes a should just means a habit. Sometimes a should entrenches unhealthy behaviors and expectations. Sometimes a should was good for awhile, but now no longer serves. Refusing to accept every should at face value can feel scary, wrong, or even “evil,” depending on the situation and characters involved.

At first, you might not have anyone in your life encouraging you to explore and process underlying patterns. In that case, a coach, counselor or support group becomes a lifeline until you can internalize your own encouragement and support. As you grow more confident, you will begin to attract different caliber relationships into your life.

Good discernment tips include:

  1. Focus on “power to, not power over.” Empowerment honors individual sovereignty without forcing one person to bend to another’s will or expectations.

  2. Walk on it: take your question(s) outside with you and let your mind and emotions process to the regular rhythm of your feet, legs and swinging arms.

  3. Sleep on it: ask your subconscious mind for guidance before you fall asleep. Pay attention to any dreams, as well as noting first thoughts/feelings upon waking. I often awake with snippets of song lyrics, which when researched, provide incredible insights and answers.

  4. Remember that we train people how to treat us. Establish boundaries and then act in consistent ways. Reward good, respectful behavior. Refuse or call out attempts to manipulate or coerce.

  5. Realize that people accustomed to benefiting from your lack of boundaries won’t appreciate your desire to change. That doesn’t make you a bad person! It may not even make them a bad person. If you want change, then the onus of change rests upon your shoulders. Freedom from the destructive effects of too much empathy brings great rewards, but those rewards often come with criticism. If someone freaks out because you ask for boundaries or a little more space, consider that confirmation of the imbalance you sensed.

  6. Do what you need to do from as kindhearted a place as you can, including kindness to yourself.

  7. Get to know your Inner Child. If you were his/her parent, would you allow your child into this situation or with this person? How would you help this child to deal with a sometimes unfair or hostile world? How would you help this child to know his/her own value, regardless of what others say or think?

Navigating should’s becomes easier the more you get to know and love yourself. Most empaths excel at loving others, but the self love comes hard. You deserve good things. You deserve respect, and you deserve a chance to thrive. Only you can live your unique life with the unique qualities, challenges and gifts you bring to this world. If you feel surrounded by conditional love and overwhelming expectations, take some time to nurture and reclaim yourself.

Much Love,
Laura

Favorite Immunity Boosters | Laura Bruno'sBlog

Favorite Immunity Boosters | Laura Bruno'sBlog
Posted January 16, 2018 by laurabruno

I thought I’d reblog this 2009 post listing my favorite immunity boosters. I think I’ve had only two colds or flu’s in the past fourteen years, and one of those was when I forgot to use oil of oregano after spending an unplanned 40 minutes waiting in sub zero temps inhaling car fumes and chemtrails. Under normal circumstances, I don’t get sick.

Since 2009, I’ve also become a fan of Four Sigmatic’s Chaga-Cordyceps and Chaga-Lion’s mane mushroom coffees, as well as Organo Gold Reishi coffee. Those are the only mushroom (or other) coffees I drink, but I love them. I also take some extra vitamin C if I encounter anyone sick.

As usual, this is not medical advice. I’m just sharing my own experiences, because people have been asking how to support their own immune system.

Many blessings and good health to you and yours!

With all the concern over the Flu, I thought I’d post some of my favorite tips for staying well. You don’t need to buy into the American pharmaceutical industry in order to benefit from some extra health precautions. I haven’t gotten a cold or flu since 2004, despite working in close proximity with many people who’ve been very ill and coughed or sneezed all over me. 🙂 Here are my top-twelve quick fixes whenever I feel a bit under the weather. As usual, I’m just sharing my own experiences and observations; nothing here constitutes medical advice:

1 )  Oil of Oregano. This stuff rocks! I bring some with me every time I travel by plane, because it’s anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-viral and anti-parasitic. A few drops in water (putting it on the tongue as instructed burns like crazy) helps me feel immune to any sneezing or coughing going straight into recirculated air.

*Note that in some women, Oil of Oregano seems to cause breast tenderness. If you already suffer from monthly breast pain, you might want to choose #3, Colloidal Silver, instead, or just use O of O in the event of direct exposure.

2 ) Yogi Tea  Echinacea Immune Support. Full of a synergistic blend of herbs and spices. If my glands feel swollen, I drink a cup of this, and I usually feel fine by the time I’ve finished the mug. I also love pau d’arco tea for its fortifying and anti-fungal, anti-viral  qualities.

3 ) Colloidal Silver Throat Spray. Not for continuous everyday use, I do find this valuable when that first throat tickle comes on. Like Oil of Oregano, Colloidal Silver also offers anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal activity.

4 ) Probiotics (non-dairy based). I often use Garden of Life’s Primal Defense. Keeping gut ecology healthy helps the body stay healthier all around.

5 ) Green Juice. Lots and lots of celery, parsley, spinach, kale and collards mixed with small amounts of fruit or veggies in juice form. Alkalizing the body automatically prevents most pathogens from thriving. Some people believe regular juice fasting keeps them more resistant to disease and common colds.  In the wild, many animals will not eat when they feel sick. Giving the digestive system a break allows more energy to be directed towards healing.

6 ) Vitamin C. Common knowledge, but also effective! Whether you get it from camu camu powder, Trader Joe’s freeze-dried strawberries, capsules or freshly squeezed orange juice, a little extra vitamin C gives the immune system a boost.

7 ) Medicinal Mushrooms. I don’t use these all the time, but in a pinch, I like New Chapter Organics’ tincture called Host Defense, featuring a synergistic combination of mushrooms designed to amp up immune activity. Some top players include: Reishi, Maitaki and Cordyceps.

8 ) Miso Soup. Miso doesn’t always mean soy. You can find chick pea miso in some health food stores. A warm cup of miso does wonders for sore throats.

*NOTE: If you have Candida problems, skip the miso until you get that under control. Sometimes the koji culture in miso can aggravate Candida.

9 ) Omega-3 Oils. Supposedly, peasants who ate a lot of hemp and flax did not succomb as heavily to the plague. More recent research validates the importance of cold-pressed Omega-3 oils or whole foods containing these oils. They support both immune and hormonal function. If you do not regularly consume hemp and coconut oils together, a high quality vegetarian DHA oil can also help.

10 ) Essential Oils. Other Black Plague lore: supposedly perfumers, who spent their days and nights surrounded by essential oils, did not get sick. These oils not only smell good; they have medicinal effects. My favorites include lavender, jasmine, frankincense, and lemongrass, for their mood-lifting and anti-bacterial effects. Jasmine, in particular, creates a nice scent while also easing coughs. Eucalyptus — of Vick’s Vapo-rub fame — also works well. Most essential oils offer some kind of healing benefit. For more information, you might enjoy this site.

11 ) Garlic, Onion and Ginger. Normally, I do not like too much garlic and onion, but if I feel a cold coming on, this combo stops it in its tracks. Juiced or added into Chinese or Indian dishes, the triple whammy of garlic, onion and ginger has never let me down.

12 ) Rest. Good, old-fashioned R & R, does wonders for the body, mind, soul and spirit. Since illness affects all these levels, it makes sense to cultivate good health in each area.

I drive myself hard, squeezing novel-writing in between busy, intense hours of coaching and intuitive sessions and a marriage. When I start feeling a little sluggish or ill, I know it’s time to take a break. I may not want the break, but the warning signs of illness come as “permission” to slow down and recharge.

Finding your own, proactive version of R & R lets your body and soul know they don’t need to manifest a full-blown illness in order to receive a full-blown break. Go ahead: take a walk; take a nap; watch a movie; read a book; get some Reiki; or … do nothing at all! You deserve a break today. 🙂

In health,

Laura

Laura Bruno: Empaths, Malaise, and Downward Spirals: How to Shift the Energy Now

Empaths, Malaise, and Downward Spirals:
How to Shift the Energy Now
I can’t tell you how many sessions I’ve had with people this past week for whom the election and its aftermath — regardless of their politics or disinterest in politics — has triggered massive grief, anger, shock, disbelief, confusion, feelings of fear, cognitive dissonance, betrayal, and/or the desire to give up. Most of these clients are people “who know better” than to go down such spirals, but for whatever reason, they can’t seem to pull themselves out of the whirlpool.

In most cases, their usual coping tools aren’t working,
because the things bothering them aren’t really “theirs” to fix.

I’ve had an unusually high volume of calls from Water Signs this past week, especially Pisces, well known for their fluid boundaries and subconscious empathing of surrounding emotions and energies. Even if you’re not a Pisces, if you feel less than optimal right now, please consider the possibility that you might be empathing a bunch of energy from people and a culture whose carefully imprisoned Shadows just experienced a collective jailbreak and are now rioting in the streets. In some cases, quite literally.

If you continue to receive “signs” like angel number sequences, faery winks, creative ideas, and magical synchronicities but still feel awful, please prioritize what I call “good energy hygiene.”Literally brush yourself off if an interaction with someone sends you into a tailspin. Sweep down each arm from shoulder to fingertip and flick your fingers like you just washed your hands and can’t find a towel. Employ good energy filters: indoor plants, soothing music, protective crystals (especially black tourmaline, black obsidian, black jade, hematite, and onyx), use protective Runes like Algiz, and follow these guidelines below:

13612137_10154334935478234_4696796560783748195_n.jpg

If you need extra support right now, please don’t feel embarrassed to reach out. I can assure you that you’re not alone. People who began our phone calls sobbing this week ended them laughing and refocused. Sometimes it just takes a little adjustment to pop back into the good reality. A little chiropractic for the soul. As the veils continue to thin, we can sense all sorts of chaos and negativity, but in the immortal words of Leonard Cohen who recently crossed the veil: “There is a crack in everything. That’s how the light gets in.”

Big Love …

Gratitude, Flow and a Water Prayer by Laura Bruno

Gratitude, Flow and a Water Prayer

In these days leading up to Thanksgiving, I just want to take a few moments to express gratitude for my amazing readers, clients, friends and family who engage with me in life, sessions and through this blog. I lead a truly blessed life that at the end of a back-to-back session day, I feel so privileged to know so many incredibly sensitive, powerful, magical, loving and astute people out there.

Thank you from the depths of my overflowing heart for being here now.

Thank you for showing up, and thank you for putting your own love and energy back into the world, even when — especially when — that world seems topsy turvy, scary, wild and unpredictable. And thank you for having the courage to withdraw back into your Self, to fill your own well, allowing your own healing through the waters to and from their Source.

And now, a prayer:

May we each flow with the Mighty Element of Water.
May the Undines, Mer People, Dolphins and the Swimming Ones
Join with us as we join and flow with them.

May the Mighty Element of Water protect and honor
The Water Protectors at Standing Rock.
May the Mighty Element of Water reclaim Her Sovereignty:
Never again allowing Herself to be forced into abuse.

May water cannons reverse upon those intending harm,
Blast away the corporate fascism
And generational brainwashing.

May the Mighty Element of Water cleanse all hatred, fear and greed.
May this cleansing purify and irrigate the hearts
Of any souls so parched that they only know The Wasteland.

May the Grail pour Awen upon the crowns of all involved.
May inspiration and understanding fill their eyes
Like Salmon of Wisdom leaping against the current
Into Destiny.

May the Tides of Change relieve any droughts
And nourish hill and dale, and field and tree.
May the Crystalline Grid support the rivers and streams
That lead to Great Lakes and the Pulsing Ocean.

May the Mighty Element of Water
Re-member Her Way as we ride Her Waves.

Preparing for Positive Timelines | Laura Bruno's Blog

Preparing for Positive Timelines | Laura Bruno's Blog

Due to some recent questions via private email, I felt led to clarify a few points in today’s blog post. Most of the people I encounter are, in fact, experiencing evidence of positive trajectories in their lives. Clients, friends, family members … so many of them have recently broken through previous barriers or show signs of imminent release from old bonds and limitations. I see this, feel this and celebrate the shifts. Yet I also realize when talking to friends who have “regular jobs” in “the real world,” that the slice of humanity I encounter on a daily basis represents a relatively small, unusually conscious, highly creative, and determined segment of this world. I have great hope for humanity in that I see and hear — daily — evidence of people stepping into their power, growing their own organic foods, creating spaces for others to shine their creativity, finding alternatives to the usual suspects pulling puppet strings, and generally being the change they wish to see in the world.

Despite this optimism of an ultimately positive shift, I also notice through friends who work with the general public (as well as my own intuition) that most people are struggling right now. A lot. Most of the people that my “regular jobs” friends encounter have no clue about the importance of avoiding GMO foods or vaccines. They have chronic illnesses or broken psyches they can’t afford to treat. They don’t have time to consider off-world intervention or cosmic resets. They’re just trying to put food on the table and don’t care if it’s Frankenfood or the real deal. David works at a credit union and sees a particularly heartbreaking segment of society on government benefits days, with people smothered in cigarette smoke withdrawing every last cent of their disability checks. Other friends of mine work in the school system and share crushing details of the lives of a majority of kids, despite the creativity and compassion of their teachers.

We’ve got all sorts of great programs happening in Goshen with various youth organizations stepping up to help turn around childhood hunger and shifting the focus of foods from processed or fast foods back to whole, fresh foods. I know some incredibly good hearted people in Goshen and other areas, but in terms of awakening, most still tend to subscribe to the fake two-party system in which voting one party is good and the other party is responsible for all the bad things in the world. While some voice the concept that “all candidates are corrupt,” when election time rolls around, they go right back to “their” party’s talking points, without recognizing Shadow Government or other psyops secretly influencing and managing their “choices.”

I mention this not as a crack on the people I know, but just as an acknowledgement that any full scale shift into truly positive, beneficial for most people, systemic change will continue to require a great deal of patience, nurturing baby steps, gradual revelations, and compassionate Shadow Work. And that’s just for politics! If we add in ET Disclosure and its implications for religion, worldview, empowerment, betrayal, forgiveness, responsibility and discernment, we’re talking some mind-exploding paradigm shifts. I often ponder what people in this largely Mennonite and Amish area would do if someone showed actual proof of a radically different history, and I’ve come to realize that most people would simply reject the information. I suspect the same for larger swaths of world population.

Given the intertwined status of all these factors, though, enjoying a positive “collective” experience requires at least a significant portion of the public to register and acknowledge an expanded worldview. Inelia Benz referred to Earth’s preference for a gentle three generation shift, and I can totally see how that could provide the gentlest way. In trying to conquer the US, the old Soviet spies had also determined that a soft revolution takes three generations to shift the worldview to such an extent that even if presented with truth, those hearing truth will reject it as false. (Note, this has already happened in the US.) But what works for negative shifts can also work for positive ones. Tools depend on the skills and intentions of the person(s) wielding them.

The problem I see with the three generation shift is that at the current rate of habitat destruction, humanity may not have three generations left on this planet. Between GMO’s, toxic pesticides, birth defect and cancer inducing herbicides, leaking nuclear reactors, the imminent prospects of WW3, systematic poisoning and privatization of most water sources, potentially engineered pandemics and deadly vaccines, chemtrails to poison air, water and soil, not to mention all the EMF radiation … the puppeteers have got us coming and going. From a mundane perspective, time is not on humanity’s side right now.

From a spiritual/long range perspective, it may be. I do a fair amount of fertility work with people trying to conceive, and I know many of the souls wanting to come in now have changed. They require specific genetics and peaceful, high vibe lives. The fact that they’re so picky, powerful and determined … and continue to incarnate here leads me to believe that at least some segment of humanity will enjoy a lovely, positive, even magical trajectory. That split between the hell on Earth reality and the one I see unfolding seems to widen each day, except if I explore the possibility of an integrated timeline, in which everyone, not just the small segment already moving in that direction, participates.

Integration lifetimes and integration timelines hold great potential for exponentially positive, out of the mundane world, “new paradigm” shifts. Once people cross the hump, life become increasingly synchronous and delightful. The trouble arises en route to that shift, though, and we’ve got a world in which people have traveled radically different distances on or perhaps not even yet on the path. I never claim to know the one, definitive way “collective” reality will go, because I don’t believe there is a single, set in stone way. That’s one of the shifts, we’re making on this planet.

The reason I suggest that people prepare themselves even if — perhaps especially if — they intend to experience a positive timeline is because we can’t control the exact way that positive timeline plays out. It might mean positive just for the individuals capable of embracing it, or maybe it will gradually unfold over multiple generations. In either case, even positive shifts require substantial changes. They can also involve explosions of worldviews, self-conceptions and daily modes of operation. Even if completely positive shifts, such changes demand discipline, courage and determination in order to implement.

As of October 2014, I have provided professional Medical Intuitive readings for 13 years. I know from my own as well as clients’ experiences that healing can happen in an instant. It really can be that simple. But people often make it a lot more complicated and convoluted — especially when those around them don’t show interest in making similar shifts. The desire for companionship on the journey feels very strong. Most people complain of feeling isolated and lonely as they begin to drop old expectations and limitations. Even the ones who recognize growth and incoming freedom often struggle watching those around them wallow in old, self sabotaging ways. They also feel hurt and shaken when loved ones poke and prod at their new, empowering ways of life. Until fully embodied and in-habit-ed, these new ways flicker in and out, with full benefits not yet fully grasped. This intermediate time period, although on a positive, chosen timeline of great shift, nonetheless feels like the biggest challenge these heroes have ever experienced.

Healing as an individual takes great courage and fortitude. Healing as a society requires the same, as well as the ability to establish clear, strong boundaries of what we will or will not allow into our own experience, despite a majority of people around us actively summoning intense, accelerated lessons. For this reason, I continue to remind people to prepare themselves, not just physically, but also mentally, emotionally and spiritually, for coming times — even on a positive timeline. I think all the supposedly “definite” info that we are 100% on a positive timeline does a disservice to many people in that not everyone is at the same point, at the same level of awareness or anywhere near prepared.

To use a personal example, my brain injury was a positive timeline that radically transformed, shaped, enlivened and improved my life. But it was no cakewalk, even though I was prepared for it by dreams and intuition. Had it just hit me out of the blue, like so many others’ injuries or illnesses, it would have devastated me. If I had not pre-glimpsed the positive outcome, I would have opted not to continue. I see this with clients in health and other issues/life events. I’ve lost count of all the people who’ve told me after the fact that my vision of their positive options was the only thing that kept them from killing themselves or passively accepting death during their healing journey. “Positive” is a relative term and the experience of it depends on perspective, of which hindsight often plays a major part. Going through the journey often feels blinding, scary and pointless, despite occasional glimmers of meaning and hope.

I still suspect that some cosmic wild card will be needed if people want a faster group transition. If they want the three generations method, that may or may not work, but if society wants rapid shift, then best to prepare for the Tower Card of the Tarot or some other significant game changer. I’ve mentioned before that W.B. Yeats considered the Tower Card his very favorite of the deck due to its extreme potential for change. Nothing quite like throwing out all the old paradigms before welcoming the new!

We just happen to live in a highly managed world in which puppeteers will happily provide a false “new” in order to relieve people of experiencing the uncomfortable and uncertain period between paradigms. I call it the Void, and I know from my own experience, as well as from working with thousands of individuals on healing journeys, that the Void feels scary, nauseating and like something you’d prefer to shake off ASAP. Preparing ourselves for the Void allows us to settle in and ride the waves for as long as it takes to integrate our preferred destination and ways of being.

This article is a very long way of saying that just because I think fluffery does people a disservice does not mean I disagree with assertions that Earth has since December 21, 2012 (or 2011, depending on your source) shifted to a positive timeline. We can find all sorts of proofs of that shift if we look for them — both in things initiated and in failed attempts at destruction. I just hear from people day in and day out that New Age platitudes and logic have both failed to provide their promised results. What happens then? Usually a period of the Void, followed by a Dark Night of the Soul. In positive terms, that Dark Night at least reminds people that they have a Soul and encourages them to reconnect with it. Sometimes the reconnection process stings, sears and stabs, though. Sometimes it breaks our heart before expanding those fragments into a radiant burst of joy that surpasses everything we ever thought we knew.

“Positive timeline” does not always mean “easy.” Recognizing and honoring the grittier parts of the journey affords the courage, wisdom and strength to keep going anyway. Despite all our best intentions, life may turn out differently than we hope, but we can choose, moment by moment to embrace The Great Mystery. We can partner with that Uncertainty to create new worlds beyond our original imaginings and intentions.

For some of us, that creative process is reason enough for living. Reason enough for joy, love and celebration. Carpe Diem, “seize the day.” But also know that whether good, bad, ugly, or the most beautiful thing you’ve ever experienced, “This, too, shall pass.” As Joni Mitchell says, “We are stardust, we are golden, and we’ve got to get ourselves back to the Garden.” True words — in, between and among all their multi-layered meanings.

Blessed Be.

Fear, Denial … or Joy and Creation? | laura bruno's blog

Fear, Denial … or Joy and Creation? | laura bruno's blog

Charles Dickens said it, and I agree, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.”

After all the continued emails and conversations, I feel I need to re-acknowledge that yes, amidst all the insanity out there, all the young people dying of cancer, all the rapes in Europe, the (radioactive??) methane leak in L.A., Fukushima, the supposedly tanking global economy, all the long term relationships splitting up, and whatever else your news feed, neighbors or own life is stirring up … I can assure you that some truly wonderful, magical, long held dreams, and heartfelt desires are coming into being. All. Over. The. World. People I know, clients, friends, relatives … some real, live people are right this moment finding roads to authenticity and peace spread wide before them.

Tania Marie and I were discussing this polarity today — of extraordinarily amazing things happening while the rest of the world seems to fall apart — and we agree that one key factor is how someone deals with denial.

For people who’ve spent months, years or decades facing down their Shadows, inner demons, and the exasperating uncertainties of life, the world’s chaos keeps opening and aligning grand opportunities for healing, joy and liberation. To quote Nietzsche, “Remember, one must have chaos inside in order to birth a dancing star.” If that idea challenges you, then you might want to treat yourself to some remedial Joanna Macy.

Like it or not, denial continues to become more and more difficult to maintain.

I’ve watched without surprise as supposedly “perfect relationships” “broke up out of nowhere … people who’ve been together forever!” Only the rosiest glasses could have failed to read the writing on those couples’ walls, and yet … many bystanders find themselves reeling with shock right now. Relationship endings can disappoint and traumatize, but when a relationship requires one or both people to live a lie in order to maintain it, then the energies of our times no longer support that relationship. We live in awakening times. You can fight awakening and the responsibility it brings, but not without consequences.

For as many people grieving the loss of a relationship, I know at least as many people celebrating their liberation from co-dependence and/or abuse. The current energies support the desire and right to live in mutual respect. Current energies also support the courage to demand that respect and the means to leave situations in which others refuse to honor healthy and respectful boundaries.

This week, I’ve watched liberals all over Europe fall on metaphorical black ice as a (very predictable) misogynist situation decades in the making “suddenly” revealed itself in no uncertain terms on New Year’s Eve. I’ve watched some people come undone as they cannot comprehend the ramifications — too scary to contemplate — “if those rapes and assaults really did happen.”

My heart goes out to the hundreds or thousands of women and girls raped, assaulted and robbed by gangs of Muslim men on New Year’s Eve, as it goes out to entire countries who feel betrayed by their governments and their own naive hospitality. But my heart also goes out to these young Muslim men raised on hatred, misogyny, poverty and war. Regardless of heart strings — or maybe because of the strong pull on them right now — denial no longer remains an easy option.

Whether in Europe, or in the growing evacuation area of L.A., or in your own private turmoil, if you want support from the current energies, it’s time to look your fear in the face. Contrary to the saying, not all fear is “false evidence appearing real.” Sometimes fear comes as a valid warning of things way out of balance. Learning to discern real fear can help you to avoid unnecessary trauma. You don’t want to get swallowed or paralyzed by fear, but assessing the situation that triggered fear and then addressing that situation, opens possibilities for positive change and renewal. Refusing to assess and address fearful situations does not make them go away. It turns them into bigger Shadows, threats and manifested traumas until you learn to navigate the scary spots.

Read some faery tales. The real ones, not Disney. Real wisdom lies hidden in those stories from the Brothers Grimm and old folk tales. Happy endings don’t always occur, but when they do, they happen because the hero or heroine faced the fear, activated creativity, and managed to align with help from beyond. You can do that, too. Whatever fear or despair you face, whatever floor just dropped from underneath you, you can find a way to integrate that experience into a rich, authentic and ultimately more fulfilling life trajectory. Loss of innocence hurts, but it also heals.

If you’re one of those magical people experiencing all manner of blessings in life right now, don’t feel afraid to share your stories, triumphs and joy with others. People need to know of other possibilities. They need to know a phoenix can and does rise from its own funeral pyre. Don’t feel ashamed of your blessings. It’s OK to ask for help, but it’s also perfectly permissible — necessary even — to scatter pixie dust and radiate joy to a scared and grieving world.
Peace in, peace out.

Fear, Denial … or Joy and Creation? by laurabruno

Fear, Denial … or Joy and Creation?

Compassion, Refugees, Rape and Magic | Laura Bruno's Blog

Thank you for speaking out on this controversial and disturbing
topic. If anyone has any doubt about the horrors of Sharia Law and how
it has inflicted itself on innocents around the world, visit
https://shariaunveiled.wordpress.com which appears to mirror the website
http://www.shariaunveiled.com

Just as anyone speaking out against Netanyahu and the harsh policies of
Israel can be labeled anti-Semitic, any outsider challenging Sharia Law
can also face criticism, or worse.

What people need to understand is that this is about basic human rights, and
specifically about the rights of oppressed women in a culture whose
belief system is imposed on the world much like the Star Trek anomaly,
The BORG. Refusal to assimilate in host countries is a big problem, and
one of the reasons people fear immigrants. The U.S. was meant to be a
melting pot of blended cultures, celebrating diversity, not segregated
cultures of disparate ideologies bumping up against one another.

Thank you for this powerful piece.

Last night, I somehow found myself clicking on the following David
Icke video, which addresses many layers of the carefully orchestrated
refugee crisis. I don’t often do much with Icke, but I really
appreciated him addressing the hypocrisy of David Cameron (and others)
talking about how “the solution to the refugee crisis is to bring peace
to the Middle East.” The words sound nice, and most of us would probably
agree with them; however, Icke highlights the actions behind the words
and how collective outrage over the photo with the little boy is being
propagandized to bring “peace” to the Middle East by forcing Parliament
to allow the UK to join the US and Turkey in bombing Syria.
Into peace. Arming “rebels,” aka ISIS, aka fundamentalist Muslims from
whom the refugees are fleeing. Orwellian doublespeak to the max.

The cognitive dissonance is beyond staggering whenever I mention to “peace lovers”…
