MERCURY, the Messenger Planet and ruler of all things related to mental activity -- communication, networking, facts, truth, news, logic, thinking, and ideas -- is very active this week. We're bound to see a significant amount of both information and misinformation coming forward, which means we'll need to be wearing our own personal Sorting Hat when it comes to knowing what to believe and what to discard as false.

This is true not only of external communications, but also our own perceptions and what we think we "know." Mercury is in Pisces right now, which increases intuition but also can create brain fog, leaving us somewhat adrift from reality and potentially gullible.

WE ARE TESTED in this regard on Wednesday, when Mercury squares both Mars and the asteroid Vesta, which are aligned in Sagittarius and fully dedicated to defending their cause. Externally, the war of words can cause significant distraction; internally, we may wage battle with our own need to be right, which can interfere with our ability to hear inner guidance.

Any square involving Mars, the god of war, is likely to create at least some fireworks. But in the midst of the barrage of words, we have the opportunity to discern the truth of the matter, thanks to the depth-perception provided by a Mercury-Pluto sextile, also on Wednesday.

FOLLOWING Mercury's trail, we'll jump over Thursday's very-important Full Moon for now, and land on Friday, when a Mercury-Jupiter trine increases the flow of communication. The good news is that with Jupiter in truth-seeking Scorpio, we are less likely to be derailed or deceived by mere words; metaphorically, we will find it easier to tune our ear to hear the core melody and be less distracted by the vocal flourishes.

Our experience on Sunday is also strongly influenced by Mercury, as the planet conjoins both Venus and Chiron in Pisces. If we are looking for healing -- especially of relationships -- this is an excellent time to access forgiveness and to open to new levels of trust with loved ones. Once we acknowledge the wounds of the past, our heartfelt, kind words can go a long way in healing any scars that remain.

The Pisces Sun also conjoins Neptune on Sunday, making it a powerful day of compassion and understanding. This influence also supports dream work and spiritual practices, as well as mindfulness meditation and creative/artistic activities.

NOW, back to the highlight of the week -- the Virgo Full Moon that occurs at 4:51 p.m. PST on Thursday (12:51 a.m. GMT on Friday). While not an eclipse, this lunation is of greater significance than most, since it is high point of the lunar cycle that began with the Solar Eclipse on February 15.

A Full Moon is a time of bringing light to current issues. It marks a culmination and a crisis point based on themes that have been building over the past two weeks. With this Full Moon in practical and discerning Virgo, it strengthens our ability to see truth and to know what we must do to facilitate improvement and healing.

THE SABIAN SYMBOL for the degree of the Full Moon (11°23′ Virgo) reinforces the theme of dispelling illusion and seeing reality:

"After the wedding, the groom snatches the veil away from his bride: The penetrating and unveiling power of the trained mind."

In his interpretation of this symbol, astrologer Dane Rudhyar writes, "There can be an unveiling of mysteries, long protected by secrecy."

Much is coming forward now that has been held hostage by our desire not to face reality. The revelation of truth may not be comfortable, but it is the first step toward finding solutions to our problems. What will we see when the veil is snatched away, and how will it affect our journey from here?

IF YOUR BIRTHDAY IS THIS WEEK: In the year ahead, you will have many opportunities to find new stability and clarity in your life. In the past year or two, you have been releasing old patterns of behavior that have kept you feeling powerless and inhibited your ability to set boundaries. As you have surrendered to these personality changes, your self-concept has changed. This internal shift is what now allows you to open your life to new potentials in the coming year.

In light,

Pam
