TRUTH IS QUESTIONED and
secrets are revealed this week, with the help of several planetary
events. We start off on Monday with the Sun and Mercury in hard aspect
(square) to Pluto. These aspects indicate challenges or obstacles that
must be overcome -- and with the Sun and Mercury in Libra, one of those
obstacles may be our own avoidance of conflict.
We may not usually see that preference as a liability, but if our aversion has kept us from clearly stating our truth or being honest about our motivations, it can interfere with our ability to achieve our goals and fulfill our higher mission (Pluto in Capricorn).
In general, these square aspects can manifest as power struggles or arguments, if we become suspicious of another's intentions. Since we cannot control others, our only recourse is to make sure our own motives are coming from a clean and clear internal place, and to stay true to our highest integrity.
ISSUES OF CONTROL and our emotional response to the use and misuse of power are often central to aspects involving Pluto -- and to the themes promoted by planets that are traveling through Scorpio. Jupiter enters Scorpio on Tuesday this week, marking the beginning of its year-long transit of the sign.
Jupiter is the largest known planet of our solar system, and accordingly has the effect of amplifying the energies of whatever it touches and whatever sign it is traversing. Over the past year, while Jupiter has been in Libra, we've seen an increase in themes ruled by that sign: legal issues and lawsuits, equality and fairness, and partnerships and alliances.
The legal battles are not likely to simply fade away once Jupiter leaves Libra -- instead, as Jupiter becomes established in perceptive Scorpio, we are likely to see more secrets and motivations revealed. Emotions and truths that have been hidden beneath a cloak of civility are exposed when Scorpio has its way. Investigations deepen and we’re no longer willing to maintain a “nice” façade if that’s not how we really feel. Instead of avoiding the deep end, we dive in head first, willing to risk it all for the experience of getting to the heart of the matter.
OTHER SHORTER-TERM INFLUENCES add spice to the proceedings this week. A few of them fall into the “more significant” category -- and one of these is the Mars-Saturn square that occurs on Wednesday.
With Mars now in Virgo, we’re especially focused on getting the job done, whatever our task may be. We’re eager to pull all the strings together so we can wrap up the package and send it out the door.
However, Saturn has other ideas. Evidently from Saturn’s perspective, we’re not quite ready to call this one done. As the teacher of patience, maturity, and discipline, Saturn in square aspect to Mars can cause delays as we pursue an objective. Usually there is a higher reason for this -- perhaps, once we re-open the package and review the contents, we find that we missed a key component. Or we find out later that if everything had gone according to plan, we actually would have missed out on an opportunity for greater success.
So, if we must deal with the frustrations commonly associated with a Saturn-Mars square this week, we will benefit if we can stand back from events, objectively assess our options, and move forward again when the timing is more favorable.
NEXT SUNDAY looks like another pivotal day – Mercury is in hard aspect to Uranus and Neptune, activating the effects of the Uranus-Neptune aspect we discussed in last week’s journal. In essence, we are compelled to think outside of the box with these aspects, even if it causes discord. Staying within the comfort zone of what we’ve always done or what will be most easily accepted by others is no longer enough.
Another planetary aspect further complicates matters next weekend. A Mars-Chiron opposition can potentially reawaken the fear that we will never be able to have what we really want. And yet, as the Wounded Healer, Chiron does not visit without bringing its medicine bag. The ingredients in the potion it offers include compassion, forgiveness, faith, and a willingness to listen to the quiet and supportive voice of our own Divine Self.
IF YOUR BIRTHDAY IS THIS WEEK: Your process of deep transformation continues into the coming year. You are on a hero's journey that will ultimately result in your feeling more empowered. You are learning that you have the capacity to face challenges head-on and to not only survive them, but to use their energy to enhance your own in positive ways. Like Dorothy at the end of the Wizard of Oz, you will learn that you've always been wearing the red shoes that will take you home. Even during times of testing, you will have the courage and confidence you need -- and you also will have assistance from Spirit that will magically reveal itself at just the right moment.
In peace,
Pam
