I did make it to a "Flow and Restore" Yoga class this
evening. I have been in the house on the computer most of the time for
many days sitting way too much, until today. I had signed up for 2
classes that I canceled on Friday night and Saturday morning. I was kind of having a Dark Night of the Soul for a few days, and didn't feel like being around people if I didn't have to. Almost
went to one Sunday, but walked at the pond instead. Almost went
last night but I couldn't get there in time. Now I feel much better from
doing yoga and eating a healthy, spicy meal afterward. ( I went for Thai
food, because that's what my body wanted to feel better. I love Thai
iced tea to balance out the heat in the food.)
I actually want to do some more yoga before bed, which is the point of
taking classes, to get back into a regular, daily practice. When you
stop doing yoga for a long time, then start again, it is not so easy to
get back to where you were. Your body protests, and as you breathe into
that discomfort, you start to learn about your habits and your what your
body wants and needs. To my surprise, I have come to understand it is
the long hours at the computer that impacts me the most, not the
bodywork on multiple massage clients. It's all about finding the
balance. Balance, that is something I also need to work on more. Sounds
like a plan. <3
(p.s.) Remember, Yoga is for EVERY body. Some clients have told me that
they can't do yoga because "I've never been very flexible." --which is
exactly why they need it! The beauty of it is that you are challenging
yourself, it is not a competition. Who wouldn't want to feel better,
sleep better, and cultivate better habits?
(p.p.s.) The
other benefit of yoga is that is calms one down and helps one gain
perspective, because the focus is not out there, it is inside one's
heart.

When I sat to
meditate in the morning, I was shown that a collective past pain experience has
healed to a new level, for humanity has grown strong enough to create a new
choice, a new timeline track. This is a direct result of the changes that
we went through in April related to the shifting of dominant brain waves
(easier access to Alpha and Theta), as well as the releasing of shame and other
experiences that we each healed. Because
of our healing, we have opened a door into a new level of empowerment.
It was shown to me through the allegory of the Arthurian/Camelot storyline.The aspects of humanity that
the Arthurian story represent are now beginning to complete for many. The Arthurian story has many layers of
information; relationship, leadership, Avalon (dimensional overlap into sacred
space), magic, dragons, and much more. The weakness that has shifted is mind
manipulation. This effects relationship, leadership, your
creativity, your ability to access your sacred space and higher dimensional
frequencies.
This short channeling came
through on March 12, 2007 from the energy of the collective consciousness
archetype of Lady Guinevere. It pops
into my consciousness occasionally as we move into a new level of
progress. On May 5, 2015, I was shown a
profound difference in this energy.
Because of the effort of many to heal within, to heal their kingdom, the manipulation of humanity no longer has
the impact it had. Are there still those
manipulating? Yes. Are there still those susceptible to it? Yes.
Yet a critical mass has been reached that is affecting the viability of
manipulating humanity out of their personal empowerment.
It is the same battle for freedom waged
centuries ago. There is always the One that resists. And when the hour seems darkest, the new
Light emerges. Courage is the key, for
there are those that need to be led to their freedom. And they wait for you to have their courage
for them. It is the way of it, some hear
the calling from within, and some do not.
It is a new battlefield, the battlefield of the inner world. There
are those that want the labor of many, the new serfs. It is not your destiny this serfdom. You know not why you toil for another. This freedom march has begun. It is a battle that is to be taught
within. Speak the words. Live the courage. It is at hand. Prepare.

There has to be a keyhole of
entry in, and a key that matches it. If
you have an imbalance of need (more like
desperation, not like we all ‘need’ air to breathe), you will be
susceptible to the ‘key’ into your kingdom.
Your kingdom is your heart and
your mind. Your kingdom, your inner
world, is your freedom. When you are
balanced, you are able to think clearly, wisely, and connectively – with your
heart. Your mind is open and quick and
you are able to find new solution. This
is what the state of peace does for you.
This channeling came through on
May 5, 2015:
The Mists of Avalon still sit heavy in the
air, yet as you clear your brain fog you begin to see in a new way. You cannot brazenly force your way forward,
you must feel with your sight and proceed with care. Are you being called forward, desiring to move,
allowed and welcomed? Proceed. Your magic is within. It will Light your way and burn back the fog
of forgotten magic so commonplace.
Honor the Life around you and recognize that
it will give way to receive you, it will give readily to be taken if it is
received with Love. As you honor the Life within you, All Life desires to share that sacred
space. As you hold care for what you
allow within, Life seeks its own resolution to earn access to the treasure you share
with those that don’t squander your value.
Choose more. For you choose what enters your heart and
mind. You hold the keys to your inner
kingdom. Wield them well.
These are the main ‘keys to the kingdom’ that have shifted because of
this new level we have reached:
Getting
embittered by loss– into maintaining empowerment and Love through challenge
Seeking
retribution instead of (internal) resolution– into finding a new win/win from challenge, always beginning from within
Duty and obligation
being external control mechanisms rather than internal choice – into compassionate, healthy boundaries of give/take
What do you do with these? You observe yourself, you focus your
internal
world, your kingdom, on healing, opportunity, new possibility, more
connection, new choices, reaching out to receive and give in new ways,
etc. You continue your work of healing yourself
and interacting with Life from empowerment.
You start letting your heart lead you more, and let your mind follow
your heart, your passion, your Love of Life and the human condition.
You shine your light brightly because you do
not need to hide yourself any longer.
You let go of the past, you forgive easily and move into new creation,
because you are limitless in your ability to create. You
become the spiritual warrior that knows life isn’t about fighting your way to
the top, it’s about rising into being the best you that you can be.
Everyone has different sensitivities...I tend to feel energetic things early (like full Moon energy, transits, even CMEs). Just because you don't feel it does not negate that it is occurring. Similarly, there is nothing WRONG with NOT feeling it. It doesn't make either party "right" it makes us different, and that is perfectly OK.
I really noticed a huge surge of energy on the 22nd, as forecast..it was much more than just the New Moon energies...it was like being bathed in a sea of love. I noticed that it allowed me to open my heart and thus draw and connect new clients and previous clients who came back to me for healing and relief. A loving feeling of mutual support. Win-win. Those are feelings to remember and cultivate when they seem absent. I loved how I felt on the 22nd and in the days following, how it seemed to open my heart, my life and my connections. I made new friends, and people from my past surfaced. I am trying to open myself to that feeling more.
But I don't always feel everything people talk about. There is no wrong. Hold the intention to allow the energies to transform you for your highest good. The love is always present, we just don't always tune into it. No one is coming to rescue you from your "dark cave" of illusion. YOU must step out of it -your comfort zone- and step into the Light, even if that makes you feel vulnerable...love does that. But as Love resonates more Love, you will find there is nothing to fear, and you will draw in people and experiences to reflect your new view. Hold the intention "I am always in the right place at the right time." and you will be able to walk through fire, unscathed. This I know.
And don't forget, when we meditate many dark things surface for release from the unconscious mind. This can be thoughtforms or nightmares, etc....do not give them attention. Observe and release. Focus on your dreams, not your fears, and always remember that you are not alone, we are all in this together. We are shifting a paradigm. We are doing a good job! Never give up. <3 Much love <3
One man’s innovative solutions for living in a drought-ravaged area have
made Tuscon a lot greener, and he eventually managed to get local laws
changed to allow curb-cutting for rainwater collection. Now the city
even offers a rainwater collection rebate to homeowners. Here’s how he
did it:
I especially appreciate the way this one man took it upon himself
to not just transform his own use of water, but to “bump up against
existing laws” in a risky effort to show both his neighborhood and his
city that another way is possible. Both the neighborhood and the Tucson
city government, to their credit, jumped on the bandwagon. Hopefully,
this and similar efforts will pave the way towards a greater
permacultural understanding of how to store and utilize precious water
in any environment during climate change. And notice, BTW, how much more
interesting the landscape when we cut into straight curb lines to open
tiny new spaces for creating abundance.
Change is a symptom of choice. It is a consequence of empowerment. Change is the effect of your cause. You are changed by Life, for Time does not stop. Life is changed by you, for you are part of Life. The interwoven thread of consciousness is an engine of creativity that supports itself.
Choice then, is your communication with the vastness of Life that is received and responded to. You do not see this engine, for its enormity is beyond the spectrum of your perception; however the effect of the entirety of Life is visible to you through cause. However, you must choose to see the whole story. The courage to look within the shadows of the self illuminates your wisdom in a flurry of neural understanding. You become the stability of the neutron that allows creation to form with greater ease. Life itself is so neutral that it is unconditional in the purest sense. There is no judgment of right or wrong, merely Life continuing. For within that neutrality is such a complete knowing of Love, the binding force of Life; that Life freely gives to stability and instability alike. It all leads to the expansion of Love. Eventually. Time does not stop, it is its nature.
You are part of the engine of Life, though a form of it that has conditions. The condition of Time is that it does not stop flowing in this dimensional expression. The condition of your physical body is that it requires physical chemicals – especially those as invisible to you as oxygen, for your vitality. The condition of the emotional body is that it requires flow for your healthy interaction. The condition of the mental body is that it requires internal strength and focus for your creativity. The condition of the human experience is that it requires a balance of duality; self and all others, inner and outer, right and wrong. This balance, the neutrality to honor it all, leads to your expansion, your growth, your elevation into a new level of connection and interaction.
As you become more unconditional with your change, you will find Life to be easier, you will find ‘being’ easier. This is not to say that all that you will experience will be easy, it is a reflection of your empowerment to progress with the flow of Life, the continual motion of evolution. As you Open to Change, you are stabilizing your own experience of Life. Be well with what is, for it is Life’s Loving response to your quest for the beauty of Truth. Look within the self and find the Truth of your beauty, Life will respond with the reflection of the beauty of all others. Enjoy the process of Life, for it is an engine of response and continuance that will show you the effect of Love if you cause it. Love the self, and it will reflect into Life around you. Others will learn by observance, it is the beauty of a Free Mind, the ability to discern for self and choose. Give that gift to yourself and Life. It is the true Change.
As we sit to Blast Opening to Change, we are bold enough to choose for the Self as we observe the win/win solution that Life’s potential is nurturing until we are ready. We are becoming empowered enough to choose to cause change in this world, even in the midst of challenge. We are unconditionally loving the challenges, for they are the experience of progress forming. We are peaceful with the flow of Time, allowing its revealing to offer new solution previously unknown. We are the bearers of Light, the creative hope that carries humanity when chaos consumes their courage. We are the Truth of Power; Love never lost, only waiting the treasure seeker to find it within. Blast on!

What would happen if we didn't have to worry about making a living any
more? Would people just sit on their arses all day or actually do
something meaningful with their lives? Michael Bohmeyer, a 29-year-old
founder of a tech startup in Berlin, wanted to find out.
After he stopped working earlier this year to live off the £780 he
makes from his startup each month, Bohmeyer says his life has radically
changed. So he started “My Basic Income”, a new initiative looking to raise enough money to pay someone £780 a month for a year, no strings attached.
Through crowdfunding, the initiative has already raised more than the $16,000 (£9,585) goal. On the 18th of September, they're going to announce the lucky winners of that wad of cash at a party in Berlin.
I spoke to Bohmeyer to find out what he hopes will come of this and how his life has changed now that he doesn't need to work.
VICE: Would you say you’re a lazy person?
Michael Bohmeyer: I’d say that, but I don’t think
being lazy is necessarily a bad thing. Other people probably wouldn’t
call me lazy. I work a lot – even more so now that I don’t need to work
for money. I even discovered a passion for washing the dishes.
You said that having an unconditional basic income has radically altered your life. How so?
After I stopped working earlier this year and started living off the
approximately £780 I get out of my company, I just wanted to put my feet
up and do nothing. Instead, I found a crazy drive to do things. I had a
million new business ideas, I take care of my daughter and I work for a
local community radio. I buy less shit, I live healthier and I'm a
better boyfriend and father.
Because you have more time for your girlfriend and daughter?
Because I'm more laid-back. The pressure is gone. My working conditions
were great even before, because I was running my own company and could
pretty much do what I want. But making money was tied to conditions.
Now, I do everything I do because I want to – and all of a sudden it’s
twice as much fun.
Do you ever get bored?
I wouldn’t have the time. “My Basic Income” is keeping me busy 20 out
of 24 hours. I’m not kidding – I barely sleep. All of a sudden I have
these insane amounts of energy, because I'm doing 100 percent what I
want to do.
So ever since you stopped working for money, you've been working your arse off. Kind of ironic.
Totally. It’s also funny how I got there. After I had stopped working
for pay initially, I thought I’d have to immediately find a new project.
I rented an office, made a to-do list, and showed up in the morning.
After stressing myself out like that for a month and not getting much
done, I thought, 'Wait a minute. What the hell am I doing?' So I
actively made myself do nothing for a month – I watched the sky, no
mobile phone, no books, nothing. It was physically painful. But after a
while I could do it.
You want to pay someone a basic income of £780 a month for a
year, no strings attached. What do you hope to prove or find out by
doing this?
I was pretty astonished what not having to work did to my life. It
would be presumptuous to make assumptions based on my experience, but I
think that everybody has crazy potential that could be triggered by not
having to worry about income. Don’t get me wrong, I think making money
is awesome. To work and be paid for it – that’s great. But not to work
for the sole purpose of making money. I got bored by the debates we're
having about this issue and how they are not going anywhere. So I
thought: Let’s just try this and see what happens instead of waiting
around for politicians.
Through crowdfunding you've
raised close to £19,000 so far – enough money to finance two basic
incomes for a year. That’s two people not having to worry about getting
by. Still, it doesn’t say a lot about what would happen if none of us
had to worry about that.
Sure, my project is totally dumb for two reasons. First it’s limited to
one year, so you still have to worry about making a living next year.
And secondly, of course it makes a difference if it’s just me not having
to worry about money or if nobody around me does.
So no, it’s definitely not representative. But at least we get a whiff
of what having a basic income might feel like. And we're having a
discussion about this. Because it’s not just about the two who are
actually going to win this. It’s also about the 21,000 people who wrote
on the website what they’d do if they had the money. They aren't looking
to put their feet up. They want to continue working without having to
stress so much – they’d like to volunteer more or start their own
company. I think all of these things would be pretty rad for society.
So what do you think would happen if we all had basic income tomorrow?
At first, nothing much would change. But in the long run we’d see
people making freer choices, because they wouldn’t have to make
decisions based on economic pressure – only based on what they actually
want. They’d have time to actually think about what it is that they want
or they are good at. Now, you're just trying to get through school
quickly so you can get a good job.
OK, you are talking about privileged people with university
degrees who actually expect their jobs to not just pay the rent but also
be fun, rewarding, and fulfilling. What about the underpaid who are
cleaning toilets, working in call centers, or taking care of the old?
I'm not just addressing the privileged here. Having a basic income puts
everybody into a better position when it comes to negotiating with
their employers. The guy cleaning the toilet could say, "Nope, not doing
that any more." The employer could then say, "Let’s automate this and
we’ll only have self-cleaning toilets from now on."
Yeah, but it’s hard to automate taking care of children or the old.
Exactly. In these cases, we’d finally have to ask ourselves what we
value in society. We’ll have to start paying these people way better. I
think having clean toilets is important. It’s work that needs to be
done, but it is done today at the expense of people who can’t afford to
get another job. And I don’t know anyone who’d say child care isn’t
important – yet we have people doing this work for the lowest possible
pay, because no profit is to be made.
I’d actually like to be a pre-school teacher. But when I think about
what I’d make compared with working in IT, I ask myself, 'Why should I?'
With a basic income I can now reconsider this option, because with that
plus the pay I’d earn an OK living. I'm pretty sure I’d make a better
pre-school teacher than IT guy.
The group of people advocating a basic income is a pretty mixed
bunch – from leftists, member of the Green Party,
and anthroposophists to Milton Friedmanites and members of the German
Liberal Party. Where on this spectrum do you fall?
Nowhere. Basic income doesn’t fit this left-right diagram. It’s partly
socialist, because it’s about giving everybody the same. It’s also
individualistic, because it’s about lean government and less
bureaucracy. It’s neither left-wing nor right-wing; it’s a third road.
Today, politicians use it as a sociopolitical tool to get people to do
what they want them to do. I think this strategy has gotten old, and
it’s not working. Let’s give people some money and see what they do with
it if they can decide for themselves.
What about your own agenda? Aren’t you also trying to prove a point?
Yes, but on another level. I think you can only achieve change by
letting the people advocate their change. You can force people to do
something they don’t want to do, but you can’t convince them. And most
of all, you can’t force them to take jobs that aren’t there.
"The myth of full employment and the idea that everyone who
doesn’t have a job is just not trying hard enough." What do you think of
that?
That’s bullshit. In modern capitalism you can never have full
employment. Having a reserve army of unemployed workforce at all times
is necessary to keep the low-pay sector as a low-pay sector. There just
isn’t enough paid labor for everybody. At the same time we are forcing
people to take jobs that aren’t there. That’s just cruel.
Any other myths you’d like to bust?
People say, "Of course I would continue working if I had a basic
income, but the others wouldn’t." That’s where I want to start. I want
to show that most everybody would do something useful with their lives l
if they had the money – it’s not just you. People want to contribute.
You just have to let them.
People say a lot of things when asked. It doesn't mean they are actually going to do it.
Sure. But if you look at the 1.4 million people we
already have in Germany today who could rely on welfare but prefer to
work even though their job doesn’t pay enough for them to make a living –
I’d say we can be fairly sure that people aren’t generally looking to
be lazy. Even with the system we have now.
So many children dream of fast cars and rocket ships, but few actually grow up to build them -- and change the world in the process.
The following script is from "Fast Cars and Rocket Ships" which aired on March 30, 2014. Scott Pelley is the correspondent. Harry Radliffe, producer..
Comparing the Tesla Model S to other cars is like comparing an iPhone to a desk phone. It is a technological marvel that scorches the pavement -- zero to 60 in four seconds. Tesla is another revolutionary idea from the mind of Elon Musk -- a 42-year-old Silicon Valley entrepreneur who built an industrial empire from the stuff of little boy dreams: fast cars and rocket ships. Musk is an idealist who told us he had to start his companies so that man could colonize Mars and save the Earth. His sister says it's like her brother traveled into the future and came back to tell us all about it. So what is the future like?
Apparently it's fast and smoke-free. The Tesla Model S is powered by 7,000 battery cells linked to an electric motor. No engine, no transmission, no tailpipe. As this company video shows, the dash is dominated by a computer that's constantly connected to the Internet. It has a fanatical following. There's a waiting list that Elon Musk is trying to shorten building 600 Model S's a week in this high-tech plant in Northern California.
Scott Pelley: I have heard a lot of people describe you.
Elon Musk: Okay, good, I mean, hopefully-- on-- on balance, hopefully, mostly good.
Scott Pelley: How do you describe yourself?
Elon Musk: I usually describe myself as an engineer that's basically what I've been doing since I was a kid. I'm interested in things that change the world or that affect the future and wondrous, new technology where you see it and you're like, "Wow, how did that even happen? How is that possible?"
How is it possible that Elon Musk could launch two impossible businesses -- SpaceX, a builder of rocket ships and Tesla which could be the first successful car company startup in America in 90 years.
Scott Pelley: How did you figure you were going to start a car company and be successful at it?
Elon Musk: Well, I didn't really think Tesla would be successful. I thought we would most likely fail. But I thought that we at least could address the false perception that people have that an electric car had to be ugly and slow and boring like a golf cart.
Scott Pelley: But you say you didn't expect the company to be successful? Then why try?
Elon Musk: If something's important enough you should try. Even if you -- the probable outcome is failure.
What's important to Musk is reducing greenhouse gases which he believes threaten the world. The Tesla will go about 250 miles on a charge. And Musk is building a network of charging stations where the driver pays nothing for a fill up. He hopes to make the stations largely solar powered one day.
Elon Musk: You can drive for free, forever, on pure sunlight. That's the, you know, message we're trying to convey. So even if, like, there's a zombie apocalypse and the grid breaks down, you'll still be able to charge your car.
Scott Pelley: So there's a zombie apocalypse warranty?
Elon Musk: Yes, exactly.

And, if you're running from zombies, it's good to know the Model S won the highest quality rating in
the history of consumer reports and has the government's highest safety rating.
Musk may be changing the car the way Steve Jobs changed the phone. Like Jobs he's a perfectionist in the art of engineering. His goal wasn't to show a profit but to reveal the possibilities. It is a desire to discover that's also behind Musk's other line of vehicles.
Only four entities have launched a space capsule into orbit and successfully brought it back: the United States, Russia, China and Elon Musk. This Buck Rogers dream started years ago when he had a nutty idea to fly an experimental greenhouse to Mars. But he couldn't. He discovered that the price of rockets was astronomical.
So now he builds his own.
Elon Musk: I had so many people try to talk me out of starting a rocket company, it was crazy.
Scott Pelley: What did they tell you?
Elon Musk: One good friend of mine collected a whole series of videos of rockets blowing up and made me watch those. He just didn't want me to lose all my money.
He never did launch that greenhouse but nowMusk is lofting commercial satellites and flying cargo to the space station for NASA at a fraction of the former cost.

Musk's fascination with technology dates to his childhood in South Africa.
Maye Musk: He just found everything interesting. He wanted to explore everything. He knocked histeeth out 'cause he was just falling off stuff. Kimbal too, actually. Yeah.
We spoke with his mother Maye, sister Tosca and brother Kimbal.
Kimbal Musk: Not a typical type of ambition. It's more he just needs to be constantly-- his mind just needs to be constantly fulfilled. And the problems that he takes on therefore need to become more and more complex over time in order to keep him interested.
He was interested in computers early. At the age of 12 he wrote the software for a video game and sold it. Against his parent's wishes he set his sights on the software capitol of the world.
Elon Musk: It seemed like the vast majority of such things came from the United States. I also, like, read a lot of comic books-- and they all seemed to be set in the United States. So it's like, "Well, this is a good place-- this is where-- I gotta go to this place."
He earned degrees in business and physics at the University of Pennsylvania and asked his brother to join him in California.
Kimbal Musk: When we moved to Silicon Valley we had nothing. So we actually lived in the office. And we would sleep on the floor in the evening and go shower at the YMCA the next morning. And then we would be ready to go before some of our employees would arrive, so they wouldn't think we were actually sleeping in the office.
In that office, Musk invented a program that gave step by step directions between addresses. That's common today in cars and phones but in 1995 it was magic. In four years he made $22 million.
Scott Pelley: Only in America.
Elon Musk: Right, only in America. Absolutely.
Next, he started an online banking firm that he grew into PayPal, a system for making purchases on the Internet.
Scott Pelley: And you sold PayPal to eBay for what?
Elon Musk: It was about $1.5 billion. So that-- that was-- it was a good outcome.
Scott Pelley: A good outcome?
Elon Musk: Yes.
His share was $180 million and he bet it all on Tesla and SpaceX. But at the age of 37, he hit rock bottom. His first rockets failed to reach orbit, and an early model Tesla roadster had quality problems.
Scott Pelley: In 2008, the rocket company is not going well, you've had three failures.
Elon Musk: Right.
Scott Pelley: The car company is hemorrhaging money--
Elon Musk: Yeah.
Scott Pelley: and the American economy has tanked in the worst recession since the Great Depression.
Elon Musk: Right.
Scott Pelley: What was that year like for you?
Elon Musk: And I'm getting divorced, by the way, add to that. That was definitely the worst year of my life.
That terrible year was captured in a documentary called "Revenge of the Electric Car." His plant was filled with flawed cars that couldn't be delivered.
["Revenge of the Electric Car:" Holy mackerel. Jesus! We have like an army of cars here. Like, Jesus! This is frightening. It's really pedal to the metal here. I mean, each month that passes is literally costs us tens of million of dollars we need to appreciate that.]
To save Tesla, Musk needed millions more from investors. His fortune was gone.
Elon Musk: When we'd call people and say, "Hey, would you like to invest?," they'd be angry that we just called. That it's like-- it's not like no-- no and-- no and-- you know, various expletives.
Scott Pelley: He was essentially broke.
Kimbal Musk: Oh yeah. In debt. More than broke.
Scott Pelley: More than broke.
Kimbal Musk: Yeah.
Elon Musk: I remember waking up the Sunday before Christmas in 2008, and thinking to myself, "Man, I never thought I was someone who could ever be capable of a nervous breakdown," but I felt, "This is the closest I've ever come." 'Cause it-- it seemed pretty-- pretty dark.
Toward the end of 2008, SpaceX prepared its fourth attempt.
Elon Musk: We were running on fumes at that point we had virtually no money.
Scott Pelley: So a fourth failure?
Elon Musk: A fourth failure would have been absolutely game over.
Scott Pelley: Done.
Elon Musk: Done.
Scott Pelley: SpaceX bankrupt...
Elon Musk: Yeah. It's bad enough to have three strikes, having four strikes is really kaput.
"I remember waking up the Sunday before Christmas in 2008, and thinking to myself, 'Man, Inever thought I was someone who could ever be capable of a nervous breakdown,' but I felt, 'This is the closest I've ever come.'"
But flight four was flawless and in Musk's world, it lit the darkness.
Then, as often, the week of Christmas became a time when little boy dreams are answered.
Elon Musk: NASA called and told us that we'd won a $1.5 billion contract. And I couldn't even hold the phone, I just blurted out, "I love you guys."
Scott Pelley: They saved you.
Elon Musk: Yeah, they did.
Scott Pelley: Financially and maybe even emotionally.
Elon Musk: Well, I'll tell you that was, that was definitely helpful, yeah.
Two days later, on Christmas Eve, Tesla's investors decided to pour in more money.
Scott Pelley: So you were saved in the period of three days by two completely unexpected events.
Elon Musk: Yeah.
Scott Pelley: Merry Christmas.
Elon Musk: Yeah, absolutely. That's for sure.
The rockets haven't failed since. His cargo capsule has docked three times with the space station. And in the California plant they're fitting seats for what they hope will be eventual manned missions. SpaceX is also testing a rocket that can be reused, softly landing on a column of flame. Another step on a longer journey.
Elon Musk: I'd love to have SpaceX be the company that brings humanity to Mars and I hope I see it while I'm still alive.
He's at SpaceX three days a week, two days at Tesla and weekends are at home with his five sons from his first marriage and his second wife Talulah whom he met in london.
Talulah Riley: It all happened very fast. We were-- we were engaged after, I think, sorta two-- two weeks of knowing each other. And I was 22 and it was-- there were all these boys. And it was-- which was the best part. And-- it was-- it was fast. And then we were in it.
Scott Pelley: You knew each other two weeks before you got engaged?
Talulah Riley: Something like that--
Scott Pelley: What was so attractive?
Talulah Riley: Well, he was very charming and definitely the most interesting and eccentric person I have ever met.
Tesla stock has rocketed up nearly 500 percent but that's not based on thecars he's selling -- that price is counting on the hope that Tesla will create an electric car at one-third the cost of the Model S which runs about $100,000. This is what stands in the way. This slab covered in plastic is the battery.
Scott Pelley: So this is essentiallythe bottom of the car. The front wheels would be there, the rear wheels would be right here. It fills up the entire bottom of the car.
Elon Musk: That's right.
This is how it fits into the bottom of the chassis. Trouble is the battery'sso expensive musk can't build a $35,000 car with acceptable range. To make Tesla successful, he must reinvent battery manufacturing. Musk has just announced a $5 billion factory to be built in the U.S. which, he says, will make more lithium ion batteries than all the other plants on earth combined.
Gambles like that have led a lot of people on Wall Street to bet against him--taking investment positions that count on Tesla stock to fail. But so far, those pessimistic investors have lost a lot of money.
Scott Pelley: What is it about you that seems to invite skepticism?
Elon Musk: Well, I think it's because we're doing these things that seem unlikely to succeed. And we've been fortunate, and at least thus far, have succeeded.
