Chiron is also moving very slowly now, having gone retrograde just a few days ago (on June 24), which means that its influence is already heightened. Chiron tends to bring forward issues that trigger a deep emotional response in us, that require us to do some inner healing work. With Chiron currently traveling through the waters of cosmic Pisces, each of us is given the task of healing the part of us that is afraid to trust the unseen realms. This is the part of us that feels alone and separate, that is trying to figure out everything by itself and feeling overwhelmed. This part of our being can be caught between the desire to believe in something greater than itself and the underlying fear that this belief is just a fairy tale -- that the only viable solution is to rely on reason and that the idea of turning our problems over to a "higher power" is at best delusional and at worst destined for failure. THESE THEMES may be especially strong early in the week, with Jupiter and Chiron forming a quincunx aspect on Tuesday. Jupiter, the largest of the known planets, is well known for its ability to make everything weightier than it might otherwise be. A quincunx calls for us undertake an attitude adjustment if we are to successfully navigate its influence. As astrologer Bil Tierney writes in his book Dynamics of Aspect Analysis, "the quincunx pinpoints how and where we tend to drain forces in a haphazard, nonproductive fashion ... it works to help us regulate our expression of urges with greater self-control and discipline. Its basic role is that of breaking down and removing those non-effectual attitudes that interfere with our ongoing growth." JUPITER IN LEO provides a few more insights into the attitudes we may want to acknowledge and adjust this week. At its best, Jupiter in Leo is creative, magnanimous, fun-loving, and self-expressive. But, a Leonine Jupiter may also need everything to be grandiose, forgetting that the steps that lead to success are often small, and that the process may occur without a lot of drama or fanfare. When we bring these two together -- Chiron in Pisces and Jupiter in Leo -- in a quincunx aspect, we can see how the scene might play out. We might be hoping, and basing our optimism (Jupiter) on the big event, the big indicator (Leo) that we're on the right path. But Chiron in Pisces is teaching us the value of trusting what we sense internally more than what we may perceive through our five physical senses. KNOWING THAT CHIRON requires a healing process, we will best navigate this aspect not by pretending to believe in something that doesn't feel "real" yet, but by using our self-care tools to heal the frightened child within who does not yet believe -- and using acceptance and compassion to gently usher that aspect of ourselves into a place of peace and trust. This Chiron theme continues through other aspects this week -- a Venus-Chiron quincunx on Tuesday, and a Mercury-Chiron square on Friday. THE REST OF THE WEEK provides quite an energetic mix, as most days have both harmonious and challenging aspects. In particular, a Sun-Neptune trine on Wednesday provides assist as we endeavor to find that stillpoint within, but with Mars squaring the Moon's Nodes, the universe is also challenging us to counteract the mistaken belief that we have to do it all by ourselves (South Node in Aries). Instead, with the North Node in Libra and Mars in Cancer, we'll need to overcome some of our resistance about allowing ourselves to be vulnerable, and learn to allow others to assist us in our endeavors. These aspects appear in the chart for Wednesday's Full Moon, so can be considered as part of the intentions of our current lunar cycle as well. THE FULL MOON CHART contains some powerful alignments: The Moon is conjunct Pluto in Capricorn, and the Sun is conjunct Mars in Cancer. The Sun, Moon, and Mars are all square the Nodes. And, Uranus contributes some energy to the mix, being widely square Pluto right now. Any time the Moon's Nodes are strongly involved in a lunation, we can consider it to be specifically a time for resolving certain karmic issues. The issues we may be working with at this Full Moon include independence vs. interdependence, control vs. acceptance, and hiding our feelings vs. allowing them to do their work of transformation as we express them. THE SABIAN SYMBOL for the Full Moon speaks directly to our main themes this week: the themes of trust and interdependence: "An albatross feeding from the hand of a sailor: The overcoming of fear and its rewards." Astrologer Dane Rudhyar's interpretation of this symbol says in part: "Here we are presented with a picture extending the ideal of peace and happiness through culture so it now includes all living organisms on the planet. The power of such a culture of harmlessness and compassion generates TRUST everywhere." Certainly, the albatross had reason to be wary of the sailor -- and yet, in the "overcoming of fear," we see the rewards that are gained. THE TELECLASS REPLAY will be available for one more week!
